Last month fourth graders worked together on reading and literacy assignments while they tested out Clayville's new flexible work spaces! Clayville used grant-funded flexible seating and sensory materials to transform the mini-conference room into a small group focus space. Thank you to Mrs. Theroux for coming in over vacation to set up the new spaces!

Clayville's Mrs. Forgue, and her second graders, were incredibly busy before the break! Students practiced their red card words from Heggerty with snow writing! Red card words are not decodable, unlike most English words. Instead, they're words that students need to develop automatic sight word recognition for, which they do by looking at irregular spelling patterns and phoneme-graphing mapping each word. In Mrs. Forgue's class, the focus is on literacy, but students build knowledge quickly with sensory-based activities like shaving cream writing!
